Pharmacist Objectives:

-         Define Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT II)

-         Identify distinct features of HIT type I and HIT type II

-         Describe the key clinical and laboratory features of HIT type II

-         Evaluate the emerging evidence supporting the use of DOACs in the management of HITII

Pharmacy Technician Objectives:

Define heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) type II.

Differentiate between HIT type I and HIT type II.

Recognize common clinical signs and laboratory findings associated with HIT type II.

Summarize the emerging role of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in the management of HIT type II.

This is a application based activity.  This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.   Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate completely in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
