At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Evaluate new IDSA guidelines for diabetes-related foot infections
  • Differentiate classifications of diabetes-related foot infections
  • Discuss variations in treatment duration of diabetes-related foot infections
  • Select optimal antibiotic agents based on the severity and the type of diabetes-related foot infections

Pharmacy Technician Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of diabetes-related foot infections
  • ·         Identify clinical presentation and classifications of diabetes-related foot infections
  • ·         List commonly used antibiotic agents in the treatment of diabetes-related foot infections

This is a knowledge based activity.  This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.   Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
