Pharmacist Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Review the pathophysiology of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and differentiate changes in physiologic presentation in those with concurrent end-stage renal disease (ESRD)
2. Discuss potential complications during treatment, such as, volume overload, severe metabolic acidosis, and slowed insulin clearance
3. Summarize the literature for various recommendations and use this to devise patient-specific treatment plans
Pharmacy Technician Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

This is a knowledge based activity. This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.
Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event. Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time. The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
