Objectives for Pharmacists

• Describe the pathophysiology of infective endocarditis
• Explain the therapeutic dilemma surrounding the management of infective endocarditis in people who inject drugs (PWID)
• Analyze recent data on management of infective endocarditis and transition to outpatient oral antimicrobial therapy
• Discuss current recommendations to identify patients who are candidates for outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy vs. outpatient oral antimicrobial therapy.
• Summarize treatment strategies of infective endocarditis in PWID

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
