NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF GEORGIA DELEGATES TO THE ASHP HOUSE OF DELEGATES

All pharmacist ASHP members in Georgia are eligible to nominate, be nominated, and vote for delegates and alternates to represent Georgia at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) 2024 House of Delegates. 

Individuals wishing to nominate themselves or another ASHP member for the slate of candidates are invited to submit their name and ASHP member number by email, by December 15, 2023, to: Steve Glass (sglass@gshp.org) Executive Director.
Three (3) delegates and up to three (3) alternate delegates will be elected.

Regional Delegate Conferences are scheduled April 27-30, 2024, and it is recommended that delegates attend one of these sessions either in-person or virtual.

The House of Delegates will meet on two separate occasions at the 2024 ASHP Summer Meetings, scheduled to be held June 8-12, 2024, in Portland, OR.    

The three candidates receiving the most votes will become delegates, with the remainder being elected as alternates.  A simple majority is required for election.

October 12, 2023 is recognized as Women Pharmacist Day, inspired by the first CEO of ASHP, Dr. Gloria Neimyer Francke. 

Today, we celebrate all women in pharmacy, including technicians, pharmacists, residents, and students, who are committed to advancing practice and improving patient outcomes.  The majority of GSHP’s Board of Directors is comprised of women leaders in our profession who help our members become better practitioners and to be recognized as the voice and resource for health-system pharmacists in Georgia and the U.S.

For mentors: This is a great way to stay apprised of the up-and-coming generation of pharmacists, give back to the profession, and invest in others.

For mentees: This program is a great way to get involved in GSHP and begin to network with pharmacists across the state. Some may be your future employers or residency directors/preceptors. This is such a great opportunity to use the organization to your professional benefit.

The GSHP Education Committee is accepting submissions for the Guideline Update session at the GSHP Fall Meeting Oct 20-22 at Brasstown Valley Resort. We are seeking speakers (practitioner or resident) willing to provide a short review (10-15 minutes) on 3 to 4 of the following guidelines: COPD, pregnancy/pediatric HIV, durable mechanical circulatory support (HFSA), adolescent obesity, KDIGO diabetes, osteoporosis. Other suggestions for pertinent guideline updates can also be submitted via the form below. The session is scheduled for Friday, Oct 20 at 8:45am. Finalized slides will be due September 8, and speakers will receive complimentary meeting registration only.

If you are planning to attend the GSHP Summer Meeting at Amelia Island in just a few weeks, then perhaps you'd like to be a panelist for the pharmacy student and resident forum on Saturday, July 8^th from 12pm – 2pm. Lunch is provided!

Come as you are; no preparation needed, just bring your experience. 

In years past the students have found this forum to be very eye-opening and rewarding.  GSHP would like a panel of pharmacists from all aspects of pharmacy to answer questions from students and residents about why you chose your present job in pharmacy.
