1. Identify common sources of bloodstream infections
2. Differentiate uncomplicated vs complicated bacteremia
3. Apply emerging evidence to antibiotic selection, dose, route, and duration for the management of bacteremia
4. List special pharmacologic considerations in bacteremia management
Pharmacy Technician Objectives:
- · Identify common sources of bloodstream infections.
- · Differentiate between uncomplicated and complicated bacteremia.
- · Recognize general antibiotic approaches (selection, dose, route, and duration) used in the management of bacteremia.
- · List key pharmacologic considerations relevant to bacteremia management (e.g., renal function, drug interactions, and dosing adjustments).
This is a knowledge based activity. This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.
Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event. Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time. The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate completely in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
