Clinical Conversations on Buprenorphine: Myths, Management, and Medication Safety

Pharmacist Objectives:
- - Describe buprenorphine's receptor activity and implications for analgesia.
- - Apply evidence-based strategies for acute pain management in patients receiving buprenorphine.
- - Assess patient appropriateness for buprenorphine therapy based on pain type, comorbidities, and concurrent medications.
Pharmacy Technician Objectives:
- · Define buprenorphine’s receptor activity and identify its implications for pain management.
- · Recognize common strategies used for managing acute pain in patients receiving buprenorphine.
- · Identify key patient factors (e.g., pain type, comorbidities, and concurrent medications) that may influence the use of buprenorphine therapy.
This is a knowledge based activity. This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.
Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event. Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time. The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate completely in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
