Candida Auris: An Overview

Pharmacist Objectives:

  • -          Describe a potential treatment regimen for Candida auris and which antifungal agents do not have activity against it.
  • -          Identify which patients are at an increased risk of developing Candida auris infections.
  • -          Describe the epidemiology and origins of Candida auris and how to prevent infection transmission.

Pharmacy Technician Objectives:

Describe common treatment approaches for Candida auris, including which antifungal agents are typically used and which agents lack activity.
Identify patient populations at increased risk for Candida auris infection, including key clinical and healthcare-related risk factors.
Recognize basic epidemiology and origins of Candida auris, including how it spreads in healthcare settings and standard infection prevention strategies.

This is a knowledge based activity.  This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.   Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate completely in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.

This is a member service of GSHP.  There is no charge for members to attend.  Dues must be current to receive CE credit.
