Each year ASHP offers Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHPs) nationwide the opportunity for official "ASHP-SSHP Recognition".  This honor recognizes the hard work of SSHPs throughout the academic year and further strengthens ASHP’s support and collaboration with local student pharmacist leaders.

Criteria for recognition encourage SSHP activities that:

    ·         Promote interest in membership and collaboration with local, state, and national health-system organizations

    ·         Cultivate career exploration, residency preparation, and professional development

    ·         Encourage students to engage with ASHP’s key initiatives, partners, and priorities

GSHP is pleased to announce that our four student chapters have earned official recognition from ASHP for 2020-2021. To view a complete list of these officially recognized SSHPs, please visit: https://www.ashp.org/Pharmacy-Student/Student-Societies/Find-a-Student-Society.

    Dear GSHP Members,

The GSHP Board of Directors met virtually on Tuesday, August 11th to discuss and carefully consider options for the Fall Meeting scheduled for October 23-25, 2020 at Brasstown Valley Resort.  In light of consistent recommendations to limit large gatherings from the Centers for Disease Control and other public health officials, as well as travel restrictions imposed at many of our institutions, the difficult decision was made to cancel this meeting as well.

We recognize the importance of continuing to provide our membership with opportunities for networking, growth, and education – especially since pharmacist license renewals are due this year!  Rest assured that GSHP will continue to provide you with the service and support you need during this unique and challenging time.  We will offer the same high-quality programming as the Education Committee and District Directors transition these programs to virtual offerings.  GSHP will also maintain the monthly networking calls for Directors of Pharmacy, Clinicians, Ambulatory Care, and 340B Coordinators to provide you with opportunities to connect with your peers across the state.  In addition, GSHP recently hosted the Residency Research Forum from a virtual platform and will offer support to ensure other residency related programs take place.

If you made a room reservation with Brasstown Valley Resort, the Resort will cancel that reservation automatically.  You may want to double check on this in a week or so.

As in the past, GSHP has a highly engaged and dedicated group of leaders that are working diligently to provide these services in new and innovative ways.  I would like to show my appreciation for all of the extra time and hard work they generously give to make these things possible.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

    Susan Jackson

    GSHP President
