Pharmacist Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical indicators for diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (AF).
2. Identify changes in staging, lifestyle modifications, assessment of clinical risk for thromboembolic events, and consideration for stroke risk modifiers.
3. Discuss early and aggressive rhythm control.
4. Explain device-detected AF and therapy recommendations.
5. List additional key updates from the 2023 guidelines for AF.
6. Create a patient treatment plan based on the new guidelines.
Pharmacy Technician Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the pathophysiology of AF.
2. List the major non-pharmacological updates in the new 2023 guidelines.
3. Recite the key pharmacological updates in the new 2023 guideline.
This is a knowledge based activity. This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.
Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event. Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time. The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
