Objectives for Pharmacists

• 1.       Describe extracorporeal membrane oxygenation’s place in therapy and identify which patients are good candidates for this therapy
• 2.       Recognize changes in pharmacokinetics due to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and illustrate how this impacts drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and clearance
• 3.       Explain the need for anticoagulation in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation
• 4.       Compare heparin and direct thrombin inhibitors use as anticoagulants in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation
• 5.       Distinguish the need for sedation in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation patients and assess the level of sedation required in this patient population

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1 contact hour (0.1 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days.
