Objectives for pharmacists              

  • 1.       Summarize the presentation and diagnosis of a patient with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL).
  • 2.       Describe the medications used to treat APL and the management of treatment-related adverse events.
  • 3.       Evaluate current evidence to identify optimal treatment strategies for high-risk APL.

Objectives for pharmacy technicians

  • 1.       Recognize the importance of early treatment initiation for a suspect APL diagnosis.
  • 2.       Identify mediations used to treat APL
  • 3.       List potential complications associated with APL.

This is a knowledge based activity.  This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.
