Learning Objectives for pharmacists:

  • Examine the evolving epidemiology and clinical impact of ESBL-producing Enterobacterales.
  • Explain the mechanisms of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) resistance, including key substrates and inhibitors.
  • Assess the benefits and limitations of rapid diagnostic tools for identifying ESBL-producing organisms.
  • Analyze recent advancements and literature influencing the management of ESBL-producing Enterobacterales bacteremia.

 

Learning Objectives for pharmacy technicians:

  • Examine the evolving epidemiology and clinical impact of ESBL-producing Enterobacterales.
  • Recite the mechanisms of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) resistance, including key substrates and inhibitors.
  • List the benefits and limitations of rapid diagnostic tools for identifying ESBL-producing organisms.
  • Recite recent advancements and literature influencing the management of ESBL-producing Enterobacterales bacteremia.

 

This is a knowledge based activity.  This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.

 

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.   Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate completely in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
