A Review of the 2022 AHA/ACC/HFSA Heart Failure Guidelines

Objectives:
Pharmacists:
· Assign one heart failure classification based on a patient’s left ventricular ejection fraction
· Apply current guideline recommendations to the management of the four major heart failure classifications
· Create a medication regimen based on comprehension of guideline-directed medical therapy for heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction
· Evaluate relevant literature that led to recommendations pertaining to sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors and other targeted heart failure therapies
Technicians:
· Assign one heart failure classification on a patient’s left ventricular ejection fraction
· Differentiate between pharmacological treatments for heart failure with a reduced and preserved ejection fraction
· Compare the benefit provided by guideline-recommended medications/medication classes in heart failure with a reduced and preserved ejection fraction
Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1 contact hour (0.1 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event. The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days.
