Objectives for Pharmacists

1. Describe common intravenous fluids used for resuscitation in the inpatient setting.
2. Explain the pathophysiology of sepsis, particularly in relation to the need for fluid resuscitation.
3. Discuss key studies comparing balanced fluids and normal saline for fluid resuscitation in patients with sepsis.
4. Identify practical considerations when utilizing balanced fluids and normal saline.

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
