Objectives: 

• Pharmacist Objectives: 

o    Describe the pathophysiology of cystic fibrosis and the different genetic mutations that lead to CFTR protein dysfunction. 

o    Summarize the current treatment options for patients with cystic fibrosis. 

o    Evaluate clinical trial data supporting the FDA approval of current CFTR modulators. 

• Technician Objectives: 

o    Identify CFTR modulator products available and recognize common dosage forms. 

o    Describe expected dosing schedules to support accurate dispensing and adherence monitoring. 

o    Differentiate between CFTR modular therapy and cystic fibrosis supportive therapies. 

This is a knowledge based activity.  This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in any setting.

Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.   Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate completely in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.
